Day 13: Praying for God’s Protection

 
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Today we continue our focus on this part of the Lord’s prayer:

“Give us today our daily bread.”

Warm Up:

Pray something like this:

“Lord, guard my affections and what my heart is drawn to love. Guard my thoughts and help me discern Your voice and expose the lies of the enemy. Protect my home and make it a safe haven for my family and friends to deepen their faith in You. Make my home a light in my neighborhood!”

Round 1: heart

place a hand over your chest pray that god would protect your heart.

Write out “Above all else, guard your heart.” Ask God to provide the strength you need to guard your heart and stay faithful to Him. Use this scripture to guide your prayer.

  • Proverbs 4-23-27Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.

Round 2: Mind

Place a hand on your head and pray that god would protect your mind.

Write out “Do not be anxious about anything.” Ask God to provide the strength you need to guard your mind from negative, anxious and limiting thoughts. Use this scripture to guide your prayer.

  • Philippians 4:6-8Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Round 3: family

Return to the list of names of your family members from day 9. Pray that God would protect each one.

Write out “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Use this scripture to guide your prayer.

  • Psalm 34:7-9The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.

Burn Out:

level up by blessing your home

Do a prayer walk through every room in your home.

Pray a blessing over each area of your home—that God would help you create your home to be a safe place where He is honored. Pray that bedrooms would provide good rest, kitchens would create space for meals to be shared, and family rooms would allow for conversations about faith to happen.
