Day 16: Broken Hearted
Warm-Up:
Pray:
“God, you know my story better than I do! You’ve prepared good works for me to complete as part of your purpose for my life. Give me insight into what that purpose is and awaken a desire in me to make a difference in the world. Rattle my cage if needed. Give me a sense of what breaks Your heart…and what breaks mine.”
Round 1:
Read Nehemiah 2:1; and John 11:17-37
Round 2:
Write down some words that describe what breaks your heart.
Think back as far as you can and write down the first time you felt this way.
Write down any other moments when you felt this way.
Round 3:
Read Ephesians 2:10
Round 4:
Write out this quote:
“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet.” — Frederick Buechner
Burn Out:
What did you write down in Round 2? Take it to God in prayer and thank him for giving you some words. If you are not sure yet, ask God to help you identify what breaks your heart. Then shift your thoughts outward. Think of your family and friends and what burdens them. Pick one and pray for them. Help carry their burden by praying!
