Today we continue our focus on this part of the Lord’s prayer:

“…but deliver us from the evil one.”

God is our defense and is the source of everything we need to be delivered from evil.

Warm Up:

Pray:

“Lord, deliver me from the evil one. I take up the shield of faith to protect my entire life. Just as a shield protects a soldier from attack so my faith in You extinguishes the spiritual onslaught coming against me. Doubt, lies, despair, confusion, anxiety, fear and any other “flaming arrow” has no power over me. I put my confident trust in You and You alone!”

Round 1:

Use a measuring tape or ruler and measure out an area that is 2.5 feet by 4 feet.

This was the size of a Roman shield. Think about how something this large could protect you.

Round 2:

REPEAT FROM Day 20: Stand up and Read Ephesians 6:10-17 out loud.

Ephesians 6:10-17 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Round 3:

Stay Standing and pray 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 out loud.

Prayer from 2 Corinthians 10:3-5For though I live in the world, I do not wage war as the world does. The weapons I fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. I demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and I take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

burn out:

Write out and Pray the following declarations:

  • I have faith…

    • that God has a plan for me even when I’m afraid he doesn’t.

    • that God loves me even when I feel like nobody else does.

    • that God is doing something for my good even though my life may be a mess.

    • in God even though my feelings may speak louder.

    • in God and deny my selfish desires in order to do what’s right although I may not want to.

    • in God and imagine a time when I won’t hurt as much as I do now.

    • in God and trust Him for the moment my spouse, child or friend won’t hurt as much as they do now.

Which one of the above statements hits home most right now? Circle it.
