Day 6: Father
Write down the time and place where you are completing this Soul Workout.
Warm-Up:
Pray:
“Father, thank you for being PRESENT—with me and for me. Thank you for being ACTIVE—at work in my life. Thank you for being VOCAL—speaking to me. I want more than the praise of people, I want to pray prayers that touch Your heart. Teach me how to pray. Teach me how to fast. Show me that You are all I need!”
Round 1:
Read Matthew 6:1-18.
Write this as a declaration:
My pursuit is not about being seen or affirmed by others. It’s about seeking my father who sees in secret.
Round 2:
To develop a habit of prayer, you need repetitions or reps. Your time with God is the ONE KEY to your pursuit of Him during these 20 days. What would it look like for you to spend significant time “shutting the door” to be with God? Write down a daily goal you would like to set. 15 minutes/day? More?
Round 3:
Pray:
“My Father in heaven, You and Your name are holy and beyond comprehension. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, in my world as it is in heaven. Give me exactly what I need today, and forgive me of the things I do that break Your heart, as I also have forgiven those that have hurt me. Don’t lead me into temptation, but deliver me from evil.
Burn Out:
End you time with this Soul Workout listening to this song:
Think of someone who you can invite to join you in your pursuit. Text or call them and invite them. If they want to join you, they can text PRAY to (708) 295 3589.
Sometime this week:
If you are able, fast this week. Choose a day and fast a meal, two meals or the whole day. During the time you would normally eat, take some extra time to focus on God through prayer or reading. If you are not sure if fasting is okay for you, consult your doctor.
