Day 23: Courage to Quit
Warm-Up:
Watch this video:
ROUND 1:
Write out the following phrases:
Everyone ends up somewhere,
but few people end up somewhere on purpose. The difference between action and inaction is courage.
ROUND 2:
Read Nehemiah 2:6-9; and Romans 8:28
ROUND 3:
Nehemiah quit his job as cupbearer in order to pursue his mission and go to Jerusalem. He envisioned a remedy for his misery. He found a better story than what he was living and one that impacted others. What does your better story look like? Write down the better story you see. Draw a picture of it if that’s helpful. This will develop the courage to quit.
BURN OUT:
Pray:
God, You use my past, in my present, to prepare me for my future. Some things served me well in the past but they need to go now. Some things are toxic to me now and it’s long overdue for them to go now. Thank you for using these things to make me who I am today. But give me courage to quit the things I need to quit so I can really pursue the better story I see. I know you are with me as I walk this journey into a new chapter. Let’s do this.
Sometime this week:
Work through your past experiences (this is important to do):
Create a list of the things that have impacted you the most (bonus points if you put this in a timeline format):
the people
the events
the challenges
the opportunities (doors that have opened)
Highlight the painful items on your list.
Identify at least three chapters to your life (but no more than six).
Write down at least one life lesson you learned in each chapter.
