25 / Waiting...
JESUS ANSWERED HIM, “IT IS ALSO WRITTEN: ‘DO NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.’” —MATTHEW 4:7
Warm-Up:
Pray:
“God, this season of Lent is a season of waiting. But with what is going on right now, “waiting” is compounded daily in my heart. It’s not easy to engage with You in this heavy time. This is not the journey I would choose but it is the journey You have me on. My soul is ready to fast forward to Easter, but Jeremiah shows me that lamenting is part of the process. Waiting, even when I don’t feel Your presence, has a way of teaching me this important truth about You: You will not cast off forever, but, even though You may allow grief, You will have compassion according to the abundance of Your steadfast love; for You don’t afflict from Your heart or grieve the children of men” (adapted from Lamentations 3:31–33). Solidify this truth in my heart today!”
Round 1:
read this right here:
But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love [HESED] of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. —Lamentations 3:21-26
Round 2:
Set a timer for 1 minute: meditate (read over and ponder) lamentations 3:21-26
Round 3:
Get some reps in. Look back at what you read and Write out 5 ways god gives you hope in a time of waiting.
Burn Out:
Someone is waiting for help and hope. Bring both to someone you don’t know by donating funds or food to a local food pantry. Text the number below if you live in the south suburbs of Chicago and need information about where you can donate.
