4 / Saturday
A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” A voice says, “Cry!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. —Isaiah 40:3-8
Take stock of your life and answer the following questions:
What have distraction, comfort or source of pleasure have you removed for this season?
Removing something allows you to add something to replace it.
what habit, routine or reminder have you added (or could you add) to bring you back to Jesus consistently throughout each day?
Adding and subtracting is not about proving something to God. The goal in doing these things is to focus your heart on Jesus and draw closer to Him.
How well is your life tapping into God’s power and presence that is available to you?
Pray:
“God, You have done the work to straighten my path and made a way for me. I want to see how upside down and backwards my world really is. Open my eyes to see that my important things are temporary, and my busy schedule is short-sighted and draining me. My life is illuminated with the light of You, Jesus. In You I am forgiven and transformed! Help me to continue to draw near to You during this season. Amen.”
