WARM UP:

Read Nehemiah 4:13

Underline the parts of this verse that stand out most to you.

ROUND 1:

Nehemiah didn’t rebuild the walls of Jerusalem by himself. All the people rebuilt it together—each assigned to a specific portion. You aren’t called to change the world by yourself. Your job is to stand in the gap you have been assigned.

Write out the following phrase:

I am not called to change everything, but I am called to change something.

ROUND 2:

The people were armed with swords, spears and bows. Each of these weapons had a specific purpose.

  • Sword: A weapon for hand to hand combat.

  • Spear: A weapon for medium-range combat.

  • Bow: A weapon for long-range combat.

What is your sword, spear and bow? Write down your answers:

Sword: What resource do you currently have that can be put to use right away?

Spear: What resource do you need in the near future?

Bow: What long-term resources do you need to accomplish your mission?

Round 3:

The sword, spear and bow are great metaphors for goal-setting as well. Write down some goals while you are standing in the gap you’ve been assigned!

Sword: What is a very short-term goal (related to your mission) you can accomplish in the next 24 hours?

Spear: What is a medium-range goal you can accomplish in the next 7 days?

Bow: What is a long-range goal you can accomplish in the next 30 days?

BURN OUT:

Pray:

“God, give me the confidence to move forward today. The mission you have dropped in my heart needs some planning. You know how well I plan so give me insight into the work that needs to be done. Give me the connections I need to start making it happen. I set my plans before you and ask you to clarify the steps I need to take. Solidify my plan and cover it with your blessing. I pray for Your favor in my life and on the work of my hands. Through it all, I trust You to guide and lead me. Give me the courage to move forward. You are with me and for me. Thank you!”

Sometime this week:

Create a diagram of your work over the past few weeks…here’s how:

  1. Circle 1: list your core values

  2. circle 2: List your spiritual gifts

  3. circle 3: List what god taught you in each chapter of your past experiences
